GTA III Cheat Codes: Full List for Xbox
Grand Theft Auto III introduced the series’ modern 3D-era cheat system, and it remains accessible today through the Xbox Series X|S via the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.
How Cheats Work
GTA III’s Xbox cheat system uses controller button combinations entered during gameplay, the same general approach carried forward into Vice City and San Andreas. Since GTA III didn’t receive a standalone original Xbox release in the same widespread way as its sequels, the most common way to play it on current-gen Xbox is through the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.
Cheat Categories Available
- Weapon cheats — equip a full loadout instantly
- Health and armor cheats — restore to full instantly
- Vehicle spawn cheats — summon specific cars
- Weather cheats — change conditions on demand
- Wanted level cheats — raise or clear your star rating
Compared to later entries like San Andreas, GTA III’s cheat list is notably more limited — a reflection of the game’s smaller scope as the series’ first 3D entry.
Important Warning
Using cheats disables Achievement/Trophy progress for that session on the Definitive Edition, consistent with the rest of the Trilogy. Use a separate save if you’re pursuing full completion.
Why GTA III’s Cheat System Matters Historically
GTA III essentially set the template every subsequent mainline entry’s cheat system would follow for two decades — see our full GTA release timeline for how the series evolved from here.
