GTA 6 Weapons List: Every Confirmed Gun and Gear

Grand Theft Auto VI is shifting away from the “carry everything” arsenal of past entries. Rockstar has confirmed a leaner, more tactical weapons system for Jason and Lucia, built around 16+ confirmed weapon types and a brand-new carry-limit mechanic. Here’s everything officially shown so far.
How Many Weapons Are Confirmed in GTA 6?
Based on official trailers, screenshots, and Ultimate Edition marketing material, Rockstar has confirmed at least 16 weapon types spanning several categories: handguns, shotguns, SMGs and machine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, heavy weapons, thrown weapons, and melee tools — plus a separate utility gear wheel.
The New Carry Limit System
Unlike GTA V, where players could stockpile an entire arsenal at once, GTA 6 introduces a Red Dead Redemption 2-style limited carry system. The confirmed limit: two rifles and two pistols carried on your person at any time. Everything else is stored in your vehicle’s trunk rather than an infinite pocket inventory.
Weapon Lockers Are Coming to Single-Player
Weapon lockers — a feature previously limited to GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 — are officially confirmed for GTA 6’s single-player campaign for the first time in series history. This means players will need to plan loadouts in advance for specific missions rather than bringing every weapon they own to every job. With two protagonists to manage, expect Jason and Lucia to potentially carry different loadouts suited to different roles in a heist or mission. For more on how this affects planning, see our guide to managing GTA 6’s carry limit.
Vehicle and Anti-Armor Weapons
For dealing with armored targets, vehicles, and helicopters, two confirmed launcher-type weapons have been shown in official material. These are less practical in everyday street fights but essential for taking down heavily armored enemies or vehicles quickly.
Throwables and Crowd Control
Confirmed throwable weapons split into two functional categories: pure-damage explosives and crowd-control options, giving players more tactical variety than GTA V’s more limited throwable selection.
The Vintage Vice City Weapon Skin
Pre-order bonus content includes an exclusive weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s tropical shirt style from the original Vice City — a nostalgic nod for longtime fans. Read more about this and other pre-order perks in our Vintage Vice City weapon skin breakdown.
What’s Still Unconfirmed
Rockstar has not published a complete, itemized weapon list — the 16+ figure comes from careful analysis of trailers and screenshots, not an official spec sheet. Expect additional weapons to be revealed as launch approaches, likely in a possible third trailer (see our GTA 6 trailers breakdown).
