GTA 6: What We Know So Far

There is still a lot we don’t know about GTA 6, but the picture is becoming much clearer. Rockstar has now shown us plenty of Vice City, introduced the main characters and given us a good look at the wider Leonida setting. The game is currently scheduled to arrive on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Back to Vice City, But Not the Vice City We Remember

For longtime GTA fans, returning to Vice City is obviously a big deal. This isn’t a straight revisit of the city from the 2002 game, though. Rockstar has rebuilt Vice City for a modern setting and surrounded it with a much larger world. There are busy streets, beaches, waterways and neighbourhoods to explore, but Leonida stretches well beyond the city. The Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park all give the map a very different feel depending on where you are.

Jason and Lucia Are at the Centre of Everything

The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, two people who come from very different circumstances but end up relying heavily on each other.Jason has spent much of his life around criminals and eventually finds himself working for drug runners in the Keys. Lucia, meanwhile, is fresh out of prison and determined to build a better life. Neither of them seems particularly interested in playing it safe, which probably isn’t going to end well.

Leonida Should Be Just as Interesting as Vice City

One of the things that stands out about GTA 6 is how much attention Rockstar is giving the areas outside the city. The Leonida Keys have a laid-back coastal feel, while Grassrivers moves into wetlands and mangroves. Port Gellhorn looks more worn-down, Ambrosia has its own industrial and rural character, and Mount Kalaga takes the game into the wilderness. It gives the impression that there will be plenty to discover when you’re simply driving around without following a mission.

There’s Still Plenty We Haven’t Seen

Even after multiple trailers and Rockstar’s Extended Look, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. We haven’t seen every part of the map, every major character or everything the game will let players do once they’re free to explore. That’s probably a good thing. Rockstar has always been pretty good at keeping some surprises hidden until launch, and GTA 6 is unlikely to be any different.

Why Everyone Is Watching GTA 6

GTA 6 has been surrounded by an unusual amount of attention for years, long before Rockstar was ready to show the game properly. Now that official footage is out, the interest has shifted from rumours about what the game might be to questions about how all these pieces actually fit together. The combination of a new story, two central characters, a returning Vice City and the much larger Leonida setting gives Rockstar plenty of room to surprise players.
