GTA 6 Jason and Lucia: Weapon Loadout Strategy Guide

With GTA 6’s confirmed shift toward limited weapon carrying and single-player weapon lockers, thinking ahead about loadouts is going to matter more than it ever did in GTA V. Here’s how to approach it once the game launches.

Understand the Core Limit First

The confirmed carry limit is two rifles and two pistols on your person at a time, with everything else stored in your vehicle’s trunk. Full details are in our carry limit breakdown.

Plan Around Mission Type

Since weapon lockers are now part of single-player, expect to choose a loadout before certain missions rather than relying on a stockpile carried everywhere. A rough approach once the game launches:

  • Stealth-focused missions: prioritize a suppressed pistol, melee options, and tools like zip ties (see our combat and stealth guide) over loud heavy weapons
  • Heist/combat-heavy missions: prioritize a rifle and heavier options, keeping a backup pistol as a sidearm
  • Vehicle-heavy missions: keep anti-vehicle launcher-type weapons in the trunk rather than on your person, given the confirmed carry restrictions

Two Protagonists, Two Potential Playstyles

With Jason and Lucia as confirmed protagonists (see our characters guide), it’s reasonable to expect missions may call for different equipment depending on which character’s perspective a scene focuses on, similar to how GTA V’s three protagonists occasionally called for different tools.

Don’t Forget Your Vehicle Loadout

Since extra weapons live in your trunk rather than an infinite personal inventory, keeping your vehicle nearby and stocked appropriately for a mission becomes a real strategic consideration — not just a convenience.

What’s Still Unconfirmed

Rockstar hasn’t detailed exact mission-by-mission loadout requirements or whether players can freely swap loadouts mid-mission versus only at designated lockers. This guide reflects reasonable strategy based on confirmed systems, not official mission walkthroughs.

Quick Facts Recap

  • Core limit: 2 rifles + 2 pistols on-person
  • Key strategy: Match loadout to mission type (stealth vs. combat vs. vehicle-focused)
  • Don’t forget: Your vehicle trunk is now part of your effective loadout
