GTA Online Legacy to Enhanced Migration: PC Transfer Guide

You can migrate an eligible GTA Online PC profile from GTAV Legacy to GTAV Enhanced through Enhanced’s landing page or pause menu. This is a profile transfer, not continuing cloud synchronization between the two editions.

Before confirming anything, check the source profile and read every character-slot warning. If you already have valuable Enhanced progress, stop at an overwrite prompt until you understand exactly what will be replaced.

What this migration supports

Rockstar’s PC migration process applies to Legacy-to-Enhanced transfers within PC. It does not transfer a PC profile to a console or bring a console profile into PC through this option.

Story Mode saves use a separate process. Do not expect an Online profile migration to transfer Michael, Franklin, and Trevor’s campaign progress.

Before you migrate

• Install and update GTAV Enhanced.
• Sign in to the Rockstar Games account associated with your intended Legacy profile.
• Record the names, ranks, and important details of your characters.
• Check whether you have existing Enhanced progress that could be affected.
• Make sure your connection is stable before starting.

Screenshots help document a support request, but they are not a backup that lets you restore an overwritten Online character yourself.

Method 1: use the Enhanced landing page

1. Launch GTAV Enhanced.
2. Select GTA Online.
3. Review the profile shown on the migration screen.
4. Confirm only if the source profile and destination warnings match your intention.
5. Wait for the transfer confirmation and continue with your migrated character.

If you have already played GTA Online Enhanced, Rockstar directs you to start migration from the pause menu instead.

Method 2: use the pause menu

In GTAV Enhanced, open the pause menu and select Online > Migrate Profile. Review the offered profile and follow the confirmation screens. If the expected profile is absent, verify your account details before proceeding with another one.

What happens to Legacy progress?

Your Legacy profile remains available after migration, but progress made afterward is separate. New earnings or purchases in Legacy will not automatically appear in Enhanced, and later Enhanced progress does not update Legacy.

Choose which edition you intend to play regularly before investing more time in either profile. Migration should not be treated as a tool for keeping two editions identical.

Why might a profile be ineligible?

Rockstar lists suspensions, bans, illegitimate progress, and insufficient progress among possible eligibility issues. An eligibility message does not necessarily mean the transfer system is temporarily offline.

Record the exact message and contact Rockstar Support if you need an account-specific explanation. Do not assume buying in-game items will resolve eligibility.

What if migration takes a long time?

Transfers can take longer during heavy service demand. Rockstar states that Online access in both editions is unavailable while the transfer is processing. Follow the screen’s instructions about whether it is safe to exit; do not repeatedly restart the process.

Can I migrate PC progress to PS5 with this option?

No. This particular process is PC Legacy to PC Enhanced.

Will my Legacy character disappear?

Rockstar says the Legacy profile is retained. Its later progress will be independent.

Should I create a new character after migration?

Only if that is your intention. Rockstar warns that choosing a new character can overwrite the existing character slot.
