An invite-only session lets you explore GTA Online without sharing free roam with random players. It is a useful starting point for learning controls, organizing properties, and working at your own pace. It does not turn every multiplayer activity into a one-player mission.
Create the private session
Rockstar’s support route starts from Story Mode. Open the pause menu, select Online, choose Find New Session, then select Invite Only Session. Follow the prompts to move into the private session. Menu wording can differ between versions, so look for the matching session option.
If you want to remain alone, do not invite other players. You can still add friends later when an activity benefits from a team.
Can you run businesses there?
Rockstar introduced support for business activities, including sell missions, in private invite-only sessions. This makes private sessions useful for players who prefer to avoid interference from strangers.
However, access and convenience are different. A mission may still require moving several vehicles or completing work within a time limit. Read the mission instructions before starting a large sale by yourself.
Build a sensible solo routine
- Enter an invite-only session.
- Check the supplies, stock, or objective for the activity you plan to run.
- Start with a smaller or familiar job.
- Record how much time the delivery takes.
- Invite help when the workload is unsuitable for one player.
Judge an activity by its actual effort as well as its potential payout. A complicated sale that repeatedly fails is not automatically better than a modest job you can complete consistently.
What private sessions do not change
You still need an internet connection and a working account. Other players’ absence does not remove NPC enemies, mission timers, business costs, or activity-specific player requirements. If a job requires a team, use a suitable team rather than expecting the private-session setting to bypass it.
