Can Xbox Series S run GTA 6? Can you play GTA IV on a newer Xbox? How big is the San Andreas map? This guide answers common Grand Theft Auto questions about platforms, storage, release history, subscriptions, and purchases.
Information reviewed: October 29, 2026. Release plans, store listings, subscription offers, and refund policies can change.
Will GTA 6 Be on Xbox Series S?
Yes. Xbox Series S is an announced GTA 6 platform, alongside Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Rockstar currently lists November 19, 2026 as the release date.
Be careful with console names. Xbox Series S and Xbox One S are different consoles. An announcement for Xbox Series X|S does not include Xbox One S.
Will GTA 6 run the same on Series S and Series X?
Platform compatibility does not establish identical performance. Resolution, frame rate, graphics settings, and available modes need version-specific confirmation. Do not assume that a performance claim about Series X also applies to Series S.
Will Xbox Series S have enough storage for GTA 6?
This depends on your available storage and the game’s installation requirement. Series S models include different advertised storage capacities, and some space is reserved for the operating system.
Check your actual free space rather than relying on the capacity printed on the console’s packaging:
- Open your Xbox Settings.
- Select System, then Storage devices.
- Check the available space on your intended installation drive.
- Compare it with the current installation requirement in the game listing.
- Allow additional space for updates.
Do not buy extra storage based only on a rumored GTA 6 file size. If you need expansion storage, check its compatibility and supported uses first. A standard USB drive and a dedicated Xbox Series X|S Storage Expansion Card are different products.
Can You Play GTA 4 on Xbox Series S and Series X?
Yes. GTA IV is playable on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X through backward compatibility. The installation method depends on your console and game license.
How to play GTA 4 on Xbox Series S
Xbox Series S has no disc drive. You therefore need access to a compatible digital copy rather than an Xbox 360 disc.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game.
- Open My games & apps and check your owned-game library.
- Find Grand Theft Auto IV and install it.
- If you do not own it, check the Xbox store’s availability in your region.
- Complete the installation and any required updates.
How to play GTA 4 on Xbox Series X
A digital copy follows a similar process. A Series X model with a disc drive can also use a supported physical Xbox 360 copy. Digital-only hardware cannot read a game disc.
If the game is missing from your library, confirm that you are using the purchasing account. Owning GTA IV on PC does not automatically grant an Xbox license.
Is backward-compatible GTA IV a remaster?
No. Backward compatibility allows an older game to work on newer hardware. It does not by itself mean the game has been remastered.
Can you play GTA 4 online on Xbox Series S?
Support for the game does not establish current multiplayer availability. Check service status, account eligibility, and the current Xbox multiplayer requirements before buying specifically for online play.

How Big Is the GTA San Andreas Map?
A commonly repeated community estimate places the GTA San Andreas map at approximately 38 square kilometres, or about 15 square miles. This is an approximate fan measurement, not an official Rockstar specification.
Figures differ because measurements may include land, surrounding water, or a rectangular boundary around the entire map. A meaningful comparison must use the same measurement method for each game.
Which cities are in San Andreas?
The three principal cities are Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. Countryside, desert, smaller settlements, and connecting roads separate these urban areas.
Is San Andreas bigger than Vice City or GTA IV?
Common community comparisons place San Andreas above the original Vice City and GTA IV in overall map area. However, exact ratios depend on what is measured. Comparing one game’s land area with another game’s land and water produces a misleading result.
Area also does not measure detail. A dense city can offer a different exploration experience from a larger world containing extensive rural regions.

When Was the Last GTA Released?
If you mean the latest released new mainline GTA story, GTA V originally launched on September 17, 2013. As of this article’s review date, GTA VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026.
Later platform editions, remasters, and GTA Online updates can make release histories confusing. A new edition of an existing game is different from a new numbered sequel.
Which GTA came after San Andreas?
Liberty City Stories followed San Andreas in release order. GTA IV followed it as the next numbered mainline entry. The correct answer depends on whether you include handheld releases and other entries.
How many GTA games are there?
A useful count must define what it includes. Expansions, handheld games, standalone online releases, remasters, and platform editions can change the total. Release order also differs from the fictional timeline.
What Is GTA+ for GTA 6?
GTA+ is a subscription membership, separate from purchasing GTA VI. Seeing both products mentioned in a store listing does not mean GTA 6’s single-player game is automatically a monthly subscription.
The announced digital GTA VI preorder promotion includes a month of GTA+. Review the terms for your region and platform before redeeming it.
Does GTA+ renew automatically?
Promotional memberships can include automatic renewal at the regular subscription price. Check the billing schedule, renewal price, redemption deadline, and cancellation instructions associated with your offer.
Does membership access mean permanent ownership?
No. Access through a subscription library should not be treated as a permanent game purchase. Check what happens when your membership ends or a game leaves the lineup.
GTA+ benefits and a console platform’s multiplayer subscription requirements are also separate matters. Check the requirements for the specific game and mode you want to play.
Can You Refund a GTA 6 Preorder?
You may be eligible to cancel or refund a GTA 6 preorder. Eligibility depends on the seller, purchase date, payment status, download status, and applicable local rules.
PlayStation Store purchases
Under the reviewed US policy, a preorder paid more than 14 days before release can generally be canceled before release if downloading or streaming the main content has not started. Purchases made closer to release have a cancellation window measured from payment, subject to the policy’s conditions.
Preloading can affect eligibility. Check your regional policy and automatic download settings before assuming that an unused preorder qualifies for a refund.
Xbox and Microsoft Store purchases
Sign in to the purchasing Microsoft account and open Order history. Find the preorder and check for a cancellation option. If it is available, follow the instructions and retain the confirmation email.
If payment has already been taken and cancellation is unavailable, use the Xbox refund-request process. A submitted request does not guarantee approval.
Purchases from other retailers
Contact the retailer that received your payment. Its policy may consider dispatch status, opened packaging, and redeemed digital codes. Keep your receipt and order number.
Are people refunding GTA 6?
Individual social media posts cannot establish a wider refund trend. Without reliable figures, claims of widespread cancellations remain unverified. Your eligibility depends on your purchase, not another customer’s experience.
Are Jason and Lucia Married in GTA 6?
Do not treat a fan theory as confirmation of marriage. Rockstar’s story description follows Jason and Lucia through a criminal conspiracy, but the material reviewed for this guide does not establish that they are married.
